Nyerere & Mikumi Safari Tours

Upon your arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, our safari guide will greet you based on your flight schedule. You will then be transported to your hotel, which is approximately a 30-minute drive away.

Once you arrive at the lodge, you can take some time to relax as you prepare for the upcoming 6-day Nyerere and Mikumi Safari Tours.

You will be collected from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and embark on a journey to Nyerere National Park, which will take approximately five hours. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat safari on the impressive Rufiji River, where you can observe a variety of wildlife, including numerous hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Today, you will engage in a walking safari and enjoy private game drives. Nyerere National Park, now the largest national park in Africa, spans an impressive 30,000 square kilometers, making it twice the size of the Serengeti. This park is home to a remarkable variety of large wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, lions, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, leopards, waterbucks, zebras, and wildebeests, along with over 350 recorded bird species.

In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

In the morning, you will set off on a game drive towards Mikumi National Park, passing through Northern Nyerere National Park. Upon your arrival around lunchtime, take a brief rest before engaging in a cultural experience with the Maasai Tribe.

Today, you will participate in an extensive day of game drives within Mikumi National Park. During your safari, you will have the opportunity to observe a diverse array of bird species, along with large populations of giraffes, buffalo, and elephants. With a bit of luck, you might also encounter lions and leopards. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

In the morning, you will depart from the lodge with packed lunches and begin your drive back to Dar es Salaam. During your journey, you will have the opportunity to observe wildlife as you pass through Mikumi National Park. You are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam in the late afternoon, where you can either check into your pre-arranged accommodation or be transferred to the airport for your subsequent travels.
