Best Time To Visit Kenya
Understanding Kenya’s climate
The best time to visit Kenya depends on your planned activities. Divided by the equator, Kenya enjoys a tropical climate.
Kenya’s weather is generally favorable, though the coast can be very humid, and the areas around Lake Magadi and Lake Turkana experience hot, desert-like conditions. Most regions have daytime temperatures ranging from 71-91°F, rarely dropping below 55°F at night. Even during the short rains, daytime humidity is low, and the skies are clear enough to see the Milky Way at night.
During the coolest months of June, July, and August, temperatures in Nairobi hover around 60°F and can drop to about 50°F in the Aberdare region and the Mount Kenya massif.

What to Pack for Kenya Tours
Safari wear should be comfortable and casual. Since evenings and early mornings can be chilly, warm sweaters are recommended. Low-heeled, comfortable sports or trekking shoes are best for walking safaris.
We recommend packing warm clothes, including a fleece or light wool sweater and socks, in addition to your regular safari gear. During the day, it can get quite hot, so remember to bring sunglasses, high-factor sunscreen, and a sun hat with a small brim.
For specialist trips like mountain climbing, extra clothing and footwear are necessary. Many hotels, lodges, and camps have swimming pools, so pack a swimsuit as well.
Due to limited space in vehicles and light aircraft, we advise packing minimally. Use a small bag weighing no more than 15 kgs, the luggage limit for local flights. Almost all safari lodges and camps offer same-day laundry service.
