Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.

After your arrival, meet and greet with your tour guide at the Kigali International Airport and have your safari briefings. Transfer to your hotel and later take up the Kigali city tour including the Genocide Memorial and visit a craft market. On evening arrive at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Drive to Akagera National Park.

After an early breakfast, along drive to Akagera National Park, this is set at a relatively low altitude on the border with Tanzania. We enter the park for a full day game drive in the park beside with packed lunch, which is home to a variety of game, it’s an exciting reserve and there are plenty of animals around and birdlife is quite exceptional.  On evening drive at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Boat ride, driver to Volcanoes National Park.

After breakfast drive to the shores of Lake Ihema, take a boat which will give you an opportunity to get close to the plentiful water birds including numerous hippos and crocodiles, thereafter drive to Kigali, have lunch then proceed to Musanze for overnight.

Day 4: Gorillas and Lake Kivu.

After your morning wakeup call and breakfast, report to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefings by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides. After you are assigned to a specific group, start your trek which will vary in length depending on which gorilla group you have been assigned to. You will spend one hour in their company before retracing your steps back down the volcano slopes. Later after lunch at the lodge, drive to Gisenyi a city on the shores of Lake Kivu. Arrive on evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Explore Lake Kivu.

Enjoy your breakfast in the peaceful atmosphere, relaxing on the rugged shore of the highest African lake, and bathing in its crystal clear waters, or have an optional boat ride to visit the closest islands and islets and later visit the hot springs. After your lunch, drive back to Kigali for drop off or catch evening flight (Depends on your flight schedule).
