Vuma Hills Tented Camp is a serene retreat perched on wooden platforms in the Vuma Hills, overlooking the Mkata Plains within Mikumi National Park. It is about 300km from Dar es Salaam. It takes about 5 hours to drive there on a tarmac road. Vuma Hill Tented Camp has 16 thatched safari tents that offer en-suite comforts on a wooden platform with thatched roof. The tents feature a shaded wooden veranda at the front and en suite bathroom facilities at the back. These include a shower, basin, and toilet. The tents are mosquito proof, and furnished with a rather old fashioned colonial décor, with each tent featuring a double and a single bed.
The dining room overlooks the swimming pool. It serves a variety of sumptuous meals prepared from fresh produce from the camp’s Highland farm. Any special dietary requirements should be made known at the time of booking. Activities include game drives in Mikumi National Park. Meanwhile, day excursions to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, just an hour’s drive away, can be organised from here for trekking and forest walks.
