Ruaha River Lodge, established in 1982, is the oldest and largest lodge in Ruaha National Park. Situated on a rocky ridge overlooking the Great Ruaha River. Ruaha Lodge is positioned on the Great Ruaha River, in an area with a great concentration of game. Animals are regularly seen in the early morning and afternoon, coming down the escarpment in search of water.
Ruaha River Lodge consists of 24 stone chalets with panoramic views. These stretch along the river bank and have a large veranda at the front. Their huge interiors feature a large bed and a sitting area, while the en-suite bathrooms are located at the back of the property.
There are two dining areas where guests can enjoy their meals or a drink at the bar. The first is located on top of a rock kopje, giving it one of the best views in the park, while the second is located down by the river where guests can enjoy watching animals taking advantage of the water source. Additionally guest can pertake on game drives, walking safaris, and sundowners while observing abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, and hippos.
