Craters Edge this is a luxury lodge set on the north-eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. It offers tented suites perched in a grove of acacia lahai trees with views straight into the crater. The design blends with the natural surroundings using canvas, wood, stone and neutral tones.
The accommodation at Craters Edge consists of 15 supremely luxurious, insulated tented suites. It includes two that connect to create a family unit. Of these, ten have king-sized beds, and five are configured as twins with two single beds each. Triples are also available on request. Double-glazed glass-panelled doors slide open to reveal sensational views. They encourage airflow while concertina mesh screens create an insect-free environment. The style is contemporary but cosy, featuring teak wood floors and gas fireplaces ideal for the cool Ngorongoro early mornings and evenings. There are also sink-in leather armchairs and footrests, walk-in wardrobes, Nespresso coffee machines, and free-standing copper bathtubs. The spacious en-suite washrooms have twin basins, a walk-in rain shower, and a flush toilet. Outside, you’ll find beautiful wooden viewing decks with panoramic Ngorongoro outlooks (from most suites), each with its own telescope.
Guests enjoy game drives, sunsets, stargazing (including views of stars like Sirius & Canopus), walking tours and cultural visits. The lodge experiences a dry season (June–October) with cooler rim mornings and more mist. There is also a wetter season (November–May) with short and long rains. However, rainfall seldom lasts all day.
