Drive from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, you will set off from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, renowned for its breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. This park provides photographers with a unique chance to capture images of elephants, lions, zebras, and giraffes set against the iconic backdrop of this famous peak.

Upon your arrival, you will enjoy lunch at your lodge before embarking on an afternoon game drive within the park.

On the subsequent day, after your morning game drive and a leisurely breakfast, you will have the opportunity to unwind at the lodge for a few hours before venturing back into the park in the afternoon. Given that the animals tend to be less active during the warm midday hours, this time allows for some relaxation before you can observe them in the cooler afternoon temperatures.

Game drive in Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

After breakfast, you will proceed to the Tsavo West region to stay at the Taita Hills – Salt Lick Lodge. For many years, Salt Lick Safari Lodge has been recognized as one of Kenya’s premier lodges, renowned for its status as one of the most photographed lodges in the world. It is a preferred choice for travelers seeking luxurious accommodations, offering an opulent safari retreat situated in the heart of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, with views overlooking a waterhole and the expansive Tsavo plains.

The Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy, named after the surrounding hills, is a vital component of the Eastern Arc forests, which are recognized as a biodiversity hotspot. Spanning 28,000 acres, the conservancy features a diverse range of habitats, including riverine forests, savanna woodlands, and grasslands.

The vegetation is typically dense and layered, predominantly consisting of Acacia and Commiphora trees, and appears evergreen in the wetter regions, particularly in the central lowlands of the sanctuary. This sanctuary lies adjacent to the Southern Tsavo West National Park and serves as a crucial dispersal area and migratory corridor for wildlife between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks, enhancing its value as a recreational tourism destination and its ecological significance.

The mountainous terrain provides stunning views of Kilimanjaro, Pare, and Uluguru mountains, as well as the Taita Hills, with a seasonal river that divides the sanctuary into valleys and lowland plains.
