Mweya Safari Lodge is located deep in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s premier big game destination. Set on a peninsula above the wide Kazinga Channel, it is surrounded by the magical Rwenzori Mountains. These are aptly described as the ‘Mountains of the Moon’. Mweya Lodge has 32 Standard Rooms, each with an en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the lake and the paths below. The 12 Deluxe Rooms have air conditioning, a bonus in what can be a humid climate. The Honeymoon Suite is in a private corner of camp, furthest from the main lodge and next to a waterhole often frequented by elephants.
Activities at Mweya Lodge include morning and afternoon/evening game drives in search of a wide variety of animals. Key species include buffalo, elephant, hippopotamus and lion. Moreover, many animals and a huge range of birds can be seen as you glide over the waters of the Kazinga Channel. You do so in specially equipped game viewing boats, which is a real highlight of the area. You can also go in search of chimpanzees in the forested Kyambura Gorge or view extinct volcano craters.
