Uganda Gorilla & Chimps Trekking

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted by our safari guide, who will assist you with your transfer to your reserved accommodation in Kampala.

In the early morning, you will be collected from your hotel in Kampala and embark on a six-hour journey to Kibale Forest. You are expected to arrive in the late afternoon, where you will check in at the lodge. Following this, you will have time to relax and unwind before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast at your lodge, you will embark on a four-hour chimpanzee trek, where you may also encounter ten additional primate species.

Kibale National Park is renowned for its diverse population of butterflies and birds. In the afternoon, you will explore Bigodi Swamp, which supports a community-based initiative. The day will conclude with an evening drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Early in the morning you’ll leave from Kibale to Biwnidi traverse scenic routes toward South Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a prime gorilla trekking destination. En route, the town of Kisoro serves as a gateway to breathtaking vistas and cultural encounters.

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, perched near Bwindi, provides luxury amid wilderness, ideal for post-trek relaxation. This route seamlessly blends primate adventures with gorilla encounters, showcasing Uganda’s rich biodiversity. Perfect for nature enthusiasts, it highlights the country’s commitment to sustainable tourism and wildlife conservation.

On this day, you will embark on a gorilla trekking adventure. After an early breakfast, you will depart for a drive to the Rushanga headquarters located in the southern region of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Upon arrival, you will receive a briefing before commencing your tracking journey at approximately 8:30 a.m. Once you successfully locate the gorillas, you will have the opportunity to spend up to one hour in their presence. It is important to return to the starting point by 1:00 p.m. at the latest, and it is advisable to be in good physical condition for this activity. Following the tracking experience, you will be transferred back to the lodge for an evening of leisure, dinner, and an overnight stay.

On the morning after your breakfast, you will journey back to Kampala. During your return to the city, you will stop for lunch in Mbarara town. After passing through Masaka town, there will be a chance to take photographs at the Equator. You are expected to arrive in Kampala in the evening, allowing you to either catch your night flight or be dropped off at your pre-arranged accommodation in Kampala, thus concluding your Uganda Gorilla and Chimps trekking experience.
