Great Migration Mara River (July – Oct)

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our safari guide will greet you based on your flight schedule. You’ll then be transported to Arusha town, which is approximately a one-hour drive away.

Once you reach the lodge, you can relax and prepare for your upcoming safari adventure the following day.

In the morning, your private guide and vehicle will meet you at the hotel for a drive to Tarangire National Park, where you’ll arrive with ample time to enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives.

The park is traversed by the Tarangire River, which draws a significant population of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and antelopes, especially during the dry season from June to October. It is common to witness large herds of elephants wandering through the savannah or seeking refuge under the unique baobab trees scattered throughout the area.

Additionally, Tarangire is home to over 550 bird species, making it the most diverse avian habitat in Africa, including the Kori bustard, recognized as the heaviest flying bird globally.

In the late afternoon, you’ill be transferred to your lodge in Karatu, where you can unwind, enjoy dinner, and spend the night.

You’ll be collected from your hotel at 7:00 in the morning, after which you’ll embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro Crater.

Ngorongoro is renowned as one of the most remarkable areas within Tanzania’s Conservation Area, notable for hosting the highest density of diverse animal species per square kilometer. During your visit, you may encounter a variety of wildlife, including buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippopotamuses, and various feline species such as caracals and servals. Those fortunate enough may even spot a rhinoceros, a species that is facing a rapid decline in population.

By lunchtime, you’ll reach the designated picnic area, where lunch boxes will be provided. Following your meal, the safari will resume, concluding a few hours later with a transfer to your accommodation in Serengeti National Park.

The following three days will be dedicated to morning and afternoon game drives along the Mara River. Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you witness the wildebeest migration up close. Your driver-guide will lead you to the prime locations where the wildebeest cross the Mara River, migrating from Serengeti National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, a spectacle that occurs from late July to October.

After an exhilarating day of game drives and a picnic lunch, you’ll return to your lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay.

You’ll begin your journey today with a transfer to Kogatende Airstrip for your planned flight to either Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Upon your arrival at Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport in the afternoon, your trip will conclude, allowing you to proceed with your subsequent travels.
