The wildebeest migration is one of the greatest wonders of the world. Annually, animals migrate into Tanzania in large numbers. January to March welcomes the calving season in the Serengeti, when wildebeest are dropping their young across the southern plains and the Ndutu region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The landscape is lush and green, wildlife is in its prime and the predators are up and about, with lion and cheetah being particularly active. If you don’t mind a little rain on your parade, this is a fantastic time for wildlife photography.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park.

In the morning after breakfast our professional tour guide / driver in Arusha town who will deliver a short safari info briefing, after which you travel to Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of acacia woodland and giant African baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals during Tanzania’s dry season.
Arrive at the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Drive to Lake Manyara National Park.

After breakfast in the morning around 8:30am drive to Lake Manyara game viewing till evening. This national park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.
The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyaras unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.
Arrive on evening at the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park to Ngorongoro Crater.

After breakfast you descend 600 meters into this magnificent Crater for a full day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino, the Ngorongoro Crater supports the other vast variety of animals which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.
Arrive on evening at the crater rim to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro via Olduvai Gorge to Ndutu.

After breakfast leave the lodge with picnic lunch and drive to Serengeti Ndutu area with an optional visit to Olduvai Gorge an archaeological site located in Ngorongoro, in which early human fossils were first discovered. Afterward it’s an optional to visit Maasai village on the way to Ndutu.
Then on the late evening, drive to and overnight at the camp or lodge in Ndutu area.

Day 5 – 6: Full drive in Ndutu area.

Depart after breakfast for a half day game viewing till lunch time, then back to the lodge for hot lunch and on evening proceed with the game viewing. Observe the calving season in this south part of the Serengeti and watch as the newborns come to life. The Serengeti is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. Enjoy guided game drives through the park, as well as Ndutu Marsh walks, sundowners and more, with the option of a hot air balloon safari.
Arrive on evening at the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Ndutu to Central Serengeti Seronera.

After enjoying your final morning feast in Ndutu area, it’s time to make an exit to another side of the Serengeti famous renowned Seronera, spend your day time on this beautiful area till evening arrive back to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: End of calving safari!

After breakfast in the morning on this last day of your trip you will be transferred to Seronera Airstrip for your flight back to Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha drop off.
